Position Title: Principal Geospatial Scientist (DHS Geospatial Proposal)

Job Description: In support of a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Geospatial Proposal, this position will work as a program director or project advisor, providing project vision, strategic consulting, and program management activities for GIS and IT projects. The Principal Geospatial Scientist will apply market research domain expertise using extensive experience in GIS and related geospatial technologies to support the successful completion of the program. Activities may include strategic planning, review and oversight of requirements definitions, application and database design, and system integration. Management activities may include defining program requirements and objectives, establishing budgets and schedules, allocating staff and other resources, and managing and overseeing subcontractor activities. Tasks that may be assigned to this position may include, but not limited to:

Duties include:

  • Provide strategic recommendations on decisions impacting overall geospatial data management, technology implementations, and geospatial infrastructure modernization to meeting emerging DHS missions 

  • Proficient in Geospatial Sciences, to include, cartography, information systems, symbology, and data management

  • Possess expertise on emerging geospatial technologies in order to provide DHS insight on geospatial solutions that can be applied towards emerging mission requirements



  • Requires a MA/MS with 10+ years' of specialized experience, BA/BS with 12+ years' of specialized experience, or 16+ years' of experience in lieu of a degree 

  • Ability to pass a background check
